David Goldstein is Senior Director of Business Development. He talks to Med Tech innovators about how PRIA’s solutions can help accelerate adoption of their products and services into the US healthcare system.

David has held various roles related to market access. Most recently, he was responsible for utilization management and prior authorization programs at Elevance, a large payer. One key activity he was responsible for was selling prior authorization programs to employer groups. He has also worked on market access issues for pharma as well as for other consulting companies.

David and his wife live in downtown Chicago. They have three fairly grown sons. They are an active family and play multiple sports together, including soccer, pickleball, golf, and rock climbing. David’s wife is from Spain; they love to travel there as well as cook and eat Spanish food.

David Goldstein is a seasoned market access executive with over 15 years of experience across diverse sectors of the healthcare industry. His broad background provides him with a unique perspective on market access challenges from multiple angles.

For the past six years, David served as Senior Director at Elevance Health, where he guided Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield health plans on market access issues, including utilization management, prior authorization, medical economics, and medical policies across a variety of clinical and therapeutic areas.

Before his role at Elevance Health, David supported AbbVie, a leading biopharma company, within their Medical Affairs division. His focus was on developing strategies and tactics for engaging with clinical leaders and payer organizations, crafting compelling narratives to communicate the value of new therapies.

Earlier in his career, David held consulting roles where he advised both startup and established biopharma and med tech companies on critical aspects of the research and commercialization processes. At Huron Consulting, he worked within the Clinical Research practice, advising companies and research institutions on best practices for conducting optimal clinical studies. He also contributed to teams overseeing the regulatory support of clinical trials, including sitting on and leading multiple IRBs. David’s work also encompassed coverage analyses and research billing projects.

Additionally, David was a consultant at ZS Associates, where he focused on optimizing investments in sales and marketing teams. Using a robust analytical approach, he guided companies on how to track and maximize returns from sales and marketing investments, particularly for early-stage therapies.

David holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with a focus on entrepreneurship and healthcare. He also earned a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Cincinnati.
